We can deceive ourselves into thinking that certain things, people, and/or experiences, will bring us happiness. Self-deception is part of self-discovery. Inevitably, we will do things for the wrong reasons.
We can always find ways to justify our behaviors.
Do any of these sound familiar?
- It was the right thing to do.
- I had obligations.
- I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
- There was a lot of money on the line.
- I was too far in.
- It’s the way it’s always been.
- It’s what I should be doing.
If the experiences in your life are not producing the feelings you want to be having about your life. Something’s amiss….
It’s time to pause. It’s time to reflect and it’s time to get real.
Anger creates more things that could make you even angrier—if you let them.
Generosity elicits a generous response.
Love attracts love.
Feelings are a beacon that attracts a reality. Most miracles happen when there is a change in perception.
Bottom line: feelings are magnetic. So choosing to focus on life- affirming feelings is the surest way to create the experience, attract the people and find the things that create a life well lived.
We are not here to negate, invalidate, avoid, or disregard the dark. Negative and uncomfortable emotions are a non-negotiable part of being a human BEING! Like the saying goes, no one escapes childhood without childhood wounds….
Personal growth development, creating positive affirmations, and changing perception is not about disassociating from the rough stuff. That would be irresponsible and unrealistic. Why? BECAUSE, rough stuff happens, wounding is real, loss, despair, illness, doubt, tragedy, it’s all there,. It’s all real and each one of us has been touched by the dark side, and will continue to be affected by it along the way.
So, I am not talking about closing the shutter to what’s real when it comes to undesired feelings. I am talking about DELIBERATION! Being deliberate with our feelings is about taking radical responsibility for how you create your life, and how you respond to people, experiences, and things around you. It’s about choosing positivity when you could just as easily choose negativity. It’s about creating miracles in our life by changing perception.
So what blocks our positivity?
- Ambivalence and indifference. When you’re in touch with your truth, you can make clearer choices.
- Scarcity mentality. There’s not enough to go around. Not enough time, money, clients, market space, recognition, opportunity.
- Comparing yourself to other – feeling superior or inferior.
- Jealousy to the point you can’t wish the other person well.
- Anger. Anger can sometimes be useful, but most of the time it’s destructive and limiting.
So when we notice that most of the time we are not feeling the way we would prefer to feel it’s time to begin the process of healing the past work moving towards a future that holds better prospects for cultivating healthier states of being. This may mean you need to change some things in your life. Some will be BIG and some will be small. But if you’re not feeling the way you want to feel about your life and you’re not attracting the things, people and experiences you want, change is inevitable….
